NR 500 VLE Second Life Assessment: Immersion in Second Life for AACN Essentials and Database Search Scavenger Hunt Guideline with Scoring Rubric Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to: a) identify the AACN Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing, b) evaluate the various roles of the master’s prepared nurse, c) perform a library database search, d) demonstrate application of APA 6th edition format, and e) experience an immersion into a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Second Life (SL). Course Outcomes Through this assignment, the student will meet the following course outcomes: · (CO#3) Apply research principles to interpretation of the content of published research studies. (PO 9) · (CO#4) Analyze data from relevant sources, including technology, to inform the delivery of care. (PO 4) · (CO#5) Analyze the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing. (PO 1) · (CO#6) Assess the various roles of the master’s prepared nurse. (PO1) Total Points Possible This assignment is worth 100points. Due Date Submit your file(s) to the NR500 Dropbox by 11:59 p.m. MT Sunday at the end of Week 6. Requirements For this assignment, students will be participating in an immersion exercise in a Virtual Learning Environment, Second Life. STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THE ORIENTATION AT THE SCHEDULED TIME TO BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT. Week 2: Access to Second Life Orientation (10 points recorded separately for week 6) Week 3 -6: Students will complete a scavenger hunt and place answers to the questions on the answer sheet, save it as a MS word document per instructions, and place it in the correct Dropbox folder by the end of Week 6 on Sunday at 11:59 pm MT. The scavenger hunt is focused on the nine AACN Essentials for Master ‘s Education in Nursing (2011). These Essentials can be accessed via the AACN website (see Webliography).
