literary analysis

You will write literary analysis identifying the rhetorical device or figure of speech (metaphor, simile, hyperbole, personification, oxymoron, symbol, irony, illusion, imagery, or allusion) for prose to project a theme, to develop a character, or to develop the plot through one specific device which will be the focus of your analysis. Then you evaluate it through peer review and by a writing center tutor to ensure that you are successfully understanding the course material and developing the ability to write persuasively and analytically. This is highly recommended.

Help me to write the discussion

An ideal post would be two solid paragraphs (that includes a thesis statement, a body of supporting evidence, and a conclusion that summarizes the main points). The post should be well constructed and free of grammatical errors, and be between 250 and 300 words. You do not need to undertake outside research in order to answer the question; although you may, if you like. It is a wise strategy to create your response as a Word document (that way, you have a copy for yourself).

Choose one (1) question.

  1. What primary factors stimulated the unprecedented industrial and agricultural growth in the late nineteenth century?
  2. Who were the leading entrepreneurs who pioneered the growth of Big Business? What were their goals and what strategies did they use to dominate their respective industries?
  3. In what ways did the social class structure and lives of women change in the late nineteenth century?
  4. How effective were the efforts of workers to organize unions to promote their interests during this era?

Sociology Easy Question

Watch the video that I linked below, regarding the Stanford Prison Experiment and also have a brief review of the 1974 Belmont Report

Must be double spaced, 12 point font, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman

link to Stanford Prison Experiment:

In class, we spent some time discussing the impact of the 1974 Belmont Report and its implication for research today. In a one page response, how does the Stanford Prison Experiment illustrate violations of the key tenants of the Belmont Report? How does the experiment uphold key tenants of the Belmont Report?

Key areas to think about:

Voluntary participation and all it entails

Protection of respondent identity

Disclosure of risks and benefits

Full disclosure to participants and academics

In constructing your response – be specific and provide concrete examples from the film.

E.g. – The Stanford Prison Experiment violates the ice cream for all participants standard in social research. For example, the prison guard John Wanye tells Prisoner #819 that he cannot have a Dilly Bar one day into the experiment.

I do not believe in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.

Show me the person you honor, for I know better by that the kind of person you are. For you show me what your idea of humanity is.

A man willing to work, and unable to find work, is perhaps the saddest sight that fortune’s inequality exhibits under this sun.

The difference between Socrates and Jesus? The great conscious and the immeasurably great unconscious.

A man cannot make a pair of shoes rightly unless he do it in a devout manner.

A well-written life is almost as rare as a well-spent one.

Foolish men imagine that because judgment for an evil thing is delayed, there is no justice; but only accident here below. Judgment for an evil thing is many times delayed some day or two, some century or two, but it is sure as life, it is sure as death.

Writing is a dreadful labor, yet not so dreadful as Idleness.

For the Observational Paper you must choose a work of art from one of the museums listed in “Museum Project General Description.” The only requirement is that the artwork belong to a movement covered in the class. You will write a paper on one original work of art. It must be a minimum of 800 words. This is not a research paper. Your observations should be illuminated by the lectures, assignments and readings. It is important to choose something that you can discuss without doing further research (unless you would like to do outside research – you are welcome to do so – on the internet, books, etc). If you do use outside sources, they must be properly credited. Please use MLA format. If you are unsure about how to cite your sources
