According to the textbook, nurses in various settings are adopting a research-based (or evidence-based) practice that incorporates research findings into their decisions and interaction with clients. How do you see this being applied in your workplace?

Power Point

Nursing theories are tested and systematic ways to implement nursing practice. Select a nursing theory and its conceptual model. Prepare a 10-15 slide PowerPoint in which you describe the nursing theory and its conceptual model and demonstrate its application in nursing practice. Include the following:

  1. Present an overview of the nursing theory. Provide evidence that demonstrates support for the model’s efficacy in nursing practice. Explain how the theory proves the conceptual model.
  2. Explain how the nursing theory incorporates the four metaparadigm concepts.
  3. Provide three evidence-based examples that demonstrate how the nursing theory supports nursing practice. Provide support and rationale for each.

Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Grading Criteria for Clinical Case Decisions:

The highest potential points for each Clinical Case Decision Question are 15-points. Students are required to upload their response as a word document attachment to the assignment drop box.

Each uploaded response is worth a possible 15 points.

  1.       Your comments should be substantiated and substantive. Postings require two citations from 1 scholarly journal and/or 1 outside text book Text books assigned to this course may be used for an additional citation only.   
  2.       Each of the two references must be from a different reference source.
  3.       To gain full credit for the assignment, the response must be a full page discussion, but no more than three (3) pages in length, which  includes the reference list.
  4.       Students are required to use APA format, proper citations, and references.  Students using direct quotes from referenced sources in the body       of the paper must include quotations.
  5.       Students will be assigned to a question.

There are five cases listed below; Begin with an assessment, students will decide if it should be treated as episodic with rationale.

You have been assigned two (2) cases to provide analysis. Students’ first initials of their last names will determine which questions they will provide an answer to for the clinical case assignments. (Students are encouraged to review each question and research the correct answers to increase their knowledge of the varied topics in the course).All cases should include the following:

a. Pathophysiology and pharmacology of the disease

b. Expected signs and symptoms of the disease.

c. Nursing Diagnosis with a plan of care.

d. All questions pertaining to the case are listed under each case.

Neurological System Case Study – #1

Mrs. Smith is an 85 year female with a history of Hypertension, diabetes and osteoarthritis. Her daughter who cares for her reports that she became suddenly confused beginning last night. She knows her daughter but has been unable to remember her grandchildren’s names. She continuously asks her daughter “What are those kids doing in our house?” .Her mother was in and out of bed all night and slept very little. Her daughter does say that her mother seemed better this morning, but on the way to your office she became more confused again. Review of systems is significant for a dry cough for the past few days. She has not had a fever. Her appetite has been poor. Her exam is normal except for some fine crackles in her left lung base. Mrs. Smith’s daughter says” My dad had Alzheimer’s and now it looks like I am going to have to go through that with my mother”

1) What are the possibilities for change in Mrs. Smith’s current mental status?
