MGT655 Grand Canyon Chipotle Mexican Grill Contamination Crisis Paper

Internal processes of a company contribute to the company’s overall effectiveness. Identifying ways to improve internal processes helps build a highly efficient organization. Root causes need to be identified. Methods to identify root causes may require substantial analysis or be apparent based on a major problem within the organization.

For example, review the assigned article, “Inside Chipotle’s Contamination Crisis: Smugness and Happy Talk About Sustainability Aren’t Working Anymore,” from Bloomberg Businessweek. Research several other sources regarding Chipotle’s food contamination crisis. Create a flowchart of the original supply chain and how Chipotle supplies each of the restaurant chains. Provide your own commentary. Create another flowchart that suggests a new way to supply the restaurant chains.

Review another restaurant chain that does not currently have a major public problem but would benefit from evaluating its manufacturing process to improve competitiveness. Specifically, provide recommendations on how to improve the company’s current supply chain. Create a flowchart to illustrate your recommendations. Provide a summary of how you came to your recommendations. Include any formal strategies and informal thought processes you used to reach your conclusions. Provide rationale for either using or not using Six Sigma methodology, ISO quality benchmarking, lean supply chain processes, or TQM.

Submit all three flowcharts and commentary for each flowchart in a single document. Provide three to five resources to support your response.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Issues and Constitutional Rights in Corrections

Issues and Constitutional Rights in Corrections

[WLOs: 1, 2, 4] [CLOs: 1, 2, 3, 4]

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read Chapters 1 and 2 from your textbook, watch the video Overcrowded: The Messy Politics of CA’s Prison Crisis, and review pages 2513-2533 only from the article Whom Should We Punish, and How? Rational Incentives and Criminal Justice Reform. This assignment includes an outline described below. The outline’s purpose is for you to prepare a foundation for your approach to your Week 2 assignment.

Including a minimum of two scholarly and/or credible resources, please prepare an outline of issues in corrections that briefly addresses, in approximately one paragraph each, the following:

  • Explain the issue(s) in at least one U.S. Supreme Court Case published within the past 10 years that addresses the balance between constitutional rights of incarcerated persons and administrative functions in corrections. (Approximately one paragraph)
    • To assist you with this part, note that the issue(s) in a U.S. Supreme Court case typically refers to the main challenge or claim that the court ultimately addresses in its ruling. For example, in Brown v. Plata (2011) (discussed in your textbook), a major issue was whether overcrowded conditions for correctional populations violates the Eighth Amendment of the U. S. Constitution. Although you may choose any relevant U.S. Supreme Court case published within the past 10 years, you may find it helpful to select a case from Table 3.1 of Chapter 3 in your textbook.
  • Determine how the constitutional rights of incarcerated persons have been addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court in a case published within the past 10 years (for your selected case above). (Approximately one paragraph)
    • To assist you with this part, consider how the decision addresses the balance between constitutional rights of incarcerated persons and administrative functions, drawing on factors considered by the U.S. Supreme Court in your selected case.
  • Examine at least one cultural sensitivity issue and at least one diversity issue in corrections. (Approximately one paragraph)
    • To assist you with this part, you may explore articles or state or federal websites that address cultural sensitivity and diversity in corrections. Use at least one scholarly or credible source.

*Note: You are encouraged to integrate any feedback from your instructor and upload the assignment to your ePortfolio.

Professor and class,

Dementia is something I am currently facing within my own family, so I have chosen the senior with dementia case study. This case is about a recently diagnosed 72 year old male, Mr. Johnson who is living with his wife and shows signs of deterioration reported by the LPN. Some key pieces of information in Mr. Johnson’s case is his wife already thinking about nursing homes, both her adult kids are living out of state and there’s no family close by to help spread the care responsibilities. It is going to take the work of the LPN, social worker, dietician, and FNP to ensure Mr. Johnson and his wife are supported.

The “case of Alzheimers Disease and other dementias is expected to increase” (Nies, & McEwen, 2019, p.378) as health care and technology are enabling us to live longer. There are many risk factors that can impact the health outcomes of those suffering from dementia. Family members and Caregivers can be physically drained and emotionally stressed overtime as the disease progresses and needs increase. A major risk factor is the family’s cultural view of dementia or even an lack of acknowledging it to be something that can be managed. An article by Schub and Woten stresses the importance of formal and informal education for caregivers. (“Patients with Dementia: Support for Caregivers”, 2018) Lacking knowledge of the variety of resources and services available to those caring for the cognitive impaired would increase the chances of an adverse event that could be avoided. A hurdle further down the line if the wife continues home health services is being able to trust the help from an other members of the care team.

An agency of interest would be Sunrise of Lincoln Park on the north side of Chicago, IL. The facility is near several medical facilities. It has enough space for 60 residents making availability quite limited, but allows for staff to focus more in individuals. The resident can choose from a studio designed for one person or a 1-2 bedroom set up that can accommodate a couple. They have nurses staff in the day and trained staff available 24hrs a day with an on-call nurse and doctor. They offer social and educational events for family, and transportation for residents. They provide long term care and small group activities for residents experiencing early signs of memory loss that would be a good fit for Mr. Johnson.

Sunrise of Lincoln park is a female residents only, but will accept males. There is a minimum age accepted, but is not listed on their website. This facility’s acceptance of a patient would be more complicated if a spouse is unwilling to be separated.

Monthly cost to the individual would be between $3,000-$3,847 to live with a room-mate, $4,100-$5,244 to live alone in a studio, $4,900-$6,242 for a 1 bedroom, and $5,200 for a 2 bedroom. So a couple could expect to pay a minimum of $5,200 or the actual consumer reported average of $7,203. Sunrise would not be affordable unless you qualified for an IRS tax deduction or able to receive veteran’s benefits.

All these factors combined would make a facility like Sunrise of Lincoln Park inaccessible to most. They are a known agency with 13 locations in Illinois, so there are plenty of options if the 60 resident occupancy is not an option. It appears that staff are friendly and attentive to the needs of their residents and family members have expressed their satisfaction with the offerings that the Lincoln Park site has provided.

risk and returns

We examined two very important topics in finance this week: risk and return. To summarize our discussion of the tradeoffs involved with risk and return, view the Evaluating Business Performance: Small Business Case Studies video:

Critically reflect on the importance of the risk and return balance. Consider the following:

  • Can we ever have any return without some type of risk?
  • If you take on a large risk, are you guaranteed a large return? Why or why not?
  • What other factors play into risks that are not covered in the video?
  • When have you had to consider risk and return in personal or professional decision-making?

This is the second in a series of papers. I have attached a formatting document as well as reference material and a description of the hypothetical company. PLEASE READ ALL DOCUMENTS BEFORE STARTING THE PAPER!

Assignment 2: Marketing Plan

Due Week 5 and worth 100 points

This assignment consists of two sections: a marketing plan (Word document) and Marketing Budget (Excel document) Note: You must submit both sections as separate files for the completion of this assignment.

For the first 6 months your company is in business—to give you time to perfect your product and to learn from actual customers—you will start marketing and selling in your own community, a radius of 25 miles from where you live.

For most non-alcoholic beverages, marketing (as opposed to the actual product itself) is key to success. Cola drinks, for example, are fairly undifferentiated, as are many energy drinks, juices, bottled water, and the like. Companies producing these types of beverages differentiate themselves and attract market share through marketing and brand awareness—both of which are critical to success.

Section 1: Marketing Plan and Sales Strategy (MS Word or equivalent)

Write the 3–5-page marketing plan and sales strategy section of your business plan in which you do the following:

  1. Define your company’s target market.
    1. Analyze the types of consumers who will be drinking your beverage in demographic terms (i.e., age, education level, income, gender, ethnic group, etc.). Outline the demographic information for your company specified on the worksheet in the course text (p. 107 | Demographic Description).
    2. Support your analysis with actual data on the size of the demographic groups in your local community (nearby zip codes).
      • Hints: At American FactFinder (http://factfinder.census.gov), you will find demographic information on potential consumers in your area. If you are selling through other businesses (such as grocery stores), indicate the number of those businesses in your local area. You will find information about such businesses in your local area at County Business Patterns (http://www.census.gov/econ/cbp/). Check Chapter 2 of Successful Business Plan for more research sources.
  2. Assess your company’s market competition.
    1. Use the factors listed in the course text graphic (p. 123 | Assess the Competition) to assess your company’s market competition.
    2. Defend your plan to differentiate yourself from the competition using the information detailed on the worksheet in the text (p. 131 | Market Share Distribution).
  • Hints: Every business faces competition, and the non-alcoholic beverage market is an especially crowded market.
  • Hints: For example, in the soft drink market, it is intimidating to try to compete against Coke and Pepsi. Newcomers in mature markets typically must pursue niche markets or even create new market categories, as Red Bull did with energy drinks.
  1. Clarify your company’s message using the information provided on the worksheet in the text (p. 160 | The Five F’s). Create a marketing slogan/tagline for your product.
      • Hints: Before you choose your marketing vehicles, you must determine the message you want to convey through those vehicles.
  2. Identify the marketing vehicles you plan to use to build your company’s brand. Justify the key reasons why they will be effective.
    • Hints: If you plan to use online marketing tactics, refer to the worksheet in the text (p. 171 | Online Marketing Tactics) to aid your response. Remember that even if you’re selling through grocery stores, you need to build your brand and social media is a major part of that in regard to beverages. Some of the marketing tactics that beverage companies use include sampling in grocery stores, building a following on social media, sponsoring events, and exhibiting at trade shows attended by retailers. You will use a combination of these tactics. For example, if you decide to give out samples in grocery stores, promote your sampling on your social media networks and those of the grocery store.
    • Hints: If you are planning to distribute through resellers, describe how you plan to reach them, for example, through industry trade shows or by establishing your own sales force. For information on trade shows, visit the Trade Show News Network (http://www.tsnn.com). You can exhibit or network at these shows.
  3. Format your assignment according to these formatting requirements:
    1. Cite the resources you have used to complete the exercise. Note: There is no minimum requirement for the number of resources used in the exercise.
    2. The paper must be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with 1-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
    3. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required page length.

Section 2: Marketing Budget (MS Excel worksheets template)

Section 2 uses the “Business Plan Financials” MS Excel template (see: Required Course Files in Week 1). Use the Business Plan Financials Guide (see: Required Course Files in Week 1) to support your development of the marketing budget.

  1. Complete the “Marketing Budget” worksheet for your company.

Note: Complete the Setup tab first based on the instructions located in the Business Plan Financials Guide (document you also downloaded from PlanningShop). Only the setup tab and marketing tab should be completed for this assignment.

      • Hints: The goal of the marketing budget is to help you determine how much it will cost you to reach your market and achieve your sales goals.
      • Hints: When filling out the “Marketing Budget” worksheet in the Excel spreadsheet, do the following:
        • Begin in the current year and complete a marketing budget for the first year of your business. The information you enter in the marketing budget spreadsheet will flow through to your “Income Statement” in the “Business Plan Financials.”
        • Leave the number at zero (0) for any marketing vehicles you do not intend to use.
        • Remember that all marketing activities involve costs. If social media represents a significant portion of your marketing, assume you will incur costs of advertising and these should be reflected on your budget. Even if a social media site charges nothing to use it, you will need to use company resources to manage the site, pay someone to execute your social media marketing campaigns, and most likely pay for ads on that site.
        • Do not leave the “Marketing Budget” blank assuming you will not have any marketing costs.
        • Do not complete all the rows; only fill in the costs for the marketing vehicles you will actually use. These must match the content you describe in Question 4 Word portion of this assignment.

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:

  • Create a marketing plan that identifies a target market, market competition, a company message, and marketing vehicles for a company.

Case study

Ann, a community nurse, made an afternoon home visit with Susan and her father. After the death of her mother, Susan had growing concerns about her father living alone. “I worry about my father all the time. He is becoming more forgetful and he has trouble seeing. Mom used to take care of him. I am not sleeping and I am irritable around him. Yesterday I shouted at him because he wouldn’t let me help him with his laundry. I felt terrible! I am at my wits’ end! My brothers and sisters do not want to put dad in a nursing home but they are not willing to help out. As usual, they have left me with all the responsibility. I work

part time
and have two small children to care for.” Susan’s father, Sam, sat quietly with tears filling his eyes. He was well nourished and well-groomed but would not make eye contact. Nurse Ann noticed that the house was clean and orderly. A tray in front of the TV had the remains of a ham sandwich and glass of ice tea. Mail was piled up, unopened on a small table near the front door. There was only one car in the driveway and the yard was in need of attention.

  1. What questions does Orlando’s theory guide the nurse to consider in caring for Susan and Sam?
  2. Develop a family plan of care from the perspective of Orlando.
