Describe this disorder – including symptoms, who would be susceptible, what people in the culture think causes it, how treated

The purpose of this assignment is to find a study referenced in a non-academic, secondary source (i.e., website, magazine, news, etc,.) and offer a thorough critique of the source. You must also locate the original source! The original source does NOT have to be a peer-reviewed study. Any study will do. Your paper should be roughly 1.5-2 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman font.

What to include

· Identify the source (i.e., article title, website name, etc,.)

· Briefly describe the research question, and identify the variables of interest

· Briefly describe the measure used in the study (i.e., survey, experiment, database)

· Discuss any potential issues of reliability and validity (construct, internal, external, statistical)

· Discuss how well the secondary source represented the original source. Address any information that was left out or may mislead readers to an incorrect interpretation

· Propose a new study on this topic, including a brief description of the independent variables, dependent variables, method/procedure, and how the data would be analyzed.

IMPORTANT

*Answers along the lines of “there were no reliability/validity issues” or “nothing was left out in the secondary source” will not be accepted. There will ALWAYS be shortcomings or limitations. If you are having difficulty answering any of the points above, please reach out and I will help!
