Then follow the steps provided on the Creating Your Budget (Links to an external site.) web page. Create an Excel worksheet in which you calculate your personal budget. (In categories in which privacy is a concern, use fictional dollar amounts.) Identify a goal, such as saving money, household expenses, purchasing an expensive item, travel, etc. Be sure to include the appropriate formulas in the worksheet.
